USI Photography and Multimedia Guidelines During Pandemic
Due to social distancing guidelines, and to protect the safety of those working in the studio area, the USI Photography Studio will not be in use until further notice. Photography and Multimedia will continue to meet University needs through other means.
New employees may submit a University portrait for their web page according to the following guidelines:
Photo taken against a plain background
- Taken mid chest level
- Size should be 4x6 inches at 300 DPI jpeg (jpg) format
Current employees should not request a new portrait at this time unless needed for a publication or other immediate need.
Photography is working on a location and safety plan to return to providing University portraits. New employees will be contacted about having an official portrait taken once arrangements have been made.
Use the Scheduling Request Form to schedule your portrait.
Group shots are discouraged at this time and will be photographed only in limited instances outdoors. Groups of 10 or less may be photographed outdoors, with physical distancing in mind. Contact Photography and Multimedia to discuss and coordinate.
Composite Group Shots
Group shots can alternatively be created by compositing individual shots. These photos will incur additional design costs for layout. Contact Photography and Multimedia for quotes.
Athletic Portraits and Team Photos
Athletic photography will be done in the Screaming Eagles Arena to facilitate physical distancing. The compositing of these photos will be done by Athletic Communications.
Events of importance to the entire University may be photographed if it is possible to maintain physical distancing between the photographer and subjects. Contact Photography and Multimedia to discuss your event and photography needs.
Classroom and Lab photos
Classroom and lab photos, for websites, publications and other marketing/promotional needs, will be scheduled on request and will require a consultation to discuss physical distancing and other safety precautions.
Photo Selection and Digital Proofs
Until further notice, Photography and Multimedia will not allow clients to review proofs or select images in the Photography Studio. All proofing and selection will be done virtually using online digital galleries. In most cases, digital proofs from a photo shoot will be available within 48-hours. For general photo selection, galleries will be created to best fit clients’ needs.
University employees are still able to borrow the Nikon prosumer cameras from Photography and Multimedia, but there are new guidelines in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and to maintain social distancing. Find out more about Camera Loans.
